Kindling

A uniquely human experience that sparks connection, breaks down barriers, and builds the kind of belonging that lasts.

What if bringing people together actually brought them together?
— Ashley McGuire, July 2008

What Happens at a Kindling Event?

The Gathering

Participants arrive into a warm, welcoming space, music playing, something to nourish them, and a self-guided opening activity that begins the work of curiosity and connection before the event even officially begins.

The Spark

The event ignites with a play-based activity that immediately shifts the energy in the room, breaking the ice without anyone feeling like ice is being broken. Ashley then shares an inspirational address tailored specifically to this group and this particular moment.

The Flame

This is the heart of Kindling. Ashley guides the room through a facilitated dialogue, drawing out voices, bridging differences, and creating the conditions for real conversation to happen. Creative activities and artistic expression may be woven in, deepening the experience beyond words alone.

The Ember

Every Kindling event closes with intention. Final words from Ashley and a closing activity that seals what was created together, often including something tangible that participants carry home. What’s kindled here doesn’t end here.

Bring Kindling to Your Organization

Every Kindling event is designed from scratch around your group, your goals, and your moment. No two events are the same — because no two communities are the same. Ashley meets with you before the event to understand what you're working with and what you're reaching for. Then she builds an experience around exactly that.

Standard events run approximately three hours. Day-long and multi-day retreats are also available.*
